oklahoma unveils kyler murray statue celebrating heisman season

Kyler Murray had eventful days; he showcased new uniforms in Phoenix and attended the unveiling of his statue in Oklahoma, where it will join six others in Heisman Park.

The statue depicts Murray, the 2018 Heisman winner, throwing the ball in a headband.

Despite starting for only one season at OU, Murray led the Sooners to a Big 12 championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

After transferring from Texas A&M, Murray backed up fellow Heisman winner Baker Mayfield in 2017. In a video shared by OU football, Murray expressed his desire to have been the starter at Oklahoma for a longer time.

Instead, he was drafted No. 1 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 and later won Offensive Rookie of the Year. Murray expressed his gratitude towards Oklahoma and said he wouldn't change anything.

The OU baseball team honored him with decals on their helmets during Friday's game against Texas.
